BumpCast forecasts turbulence for flights you add. We collect only what we need to do that, we don't sell your data, and we don't use it to track you across other apps or websites. This policy covers the BumpCast iPhone app and this website. BumpCast is made by Akinyemi & Co Ltd ("we", "us").

No account, no name

BumpCast doesn't ask for your name, email address or phone number. When you open the app it creates an anonymous ID so your flights and forecasts can sync with our servers. It isn't tied to your name or contact details.

What we store

  • Flights you add: flight number (if you enter or import one), departure and arrival airports, date and time. Also the flight's live status, such as delays, gate and terminal. We use these to compute and update your forecast.
  • Forecasts and notifications we've made for your flights, so the app can show what changed.
  • Push notification token, if you allow notifications, so we can send forecast updates. Turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings.
  • After-landing ratings ("How bumpy was it?"). We use them, without your identity, to measure and improve forecast accuracy and to publish accuracy stats.
  • Coverage waitlist: the country you asked us to cover, if you tap "Notify me".
  • Onboarding answers, such as how often you fly and how you feel about turbulence, used to tailor the app and the offers we show you.
  • Purchases: whether you have BumpCast Pro or a Flight Pass. Payment is handled by Apple; we never see your card details.

Connected email (optional)

Coming soon: with BumpCast Pro, you can choose to connect a Gmail account (Outlook later) so BumpCast can add your upcoming flights for you and keep them up to date. Nothing is connected unless you sign in and agree on Google's (or Microsoft's) own screen.

  • Read on your iPhone only. BumpCast searches your email for flight bookings, such as airline and travel-agency confirmations, and reads them on your iPhone. Your emails are never sent to our servers, never stored by us and never shared with anyone.
  • What we keep from a booking: only the flight number, date and airports. These become a flight in the app, stored like any flight you add yourself (see above). Names, booking references, addresses, loyalty numbers and payment details are ignored and never saved.
  • Changes and cancellations: if a later email from the airline changes or cancels a booking, BumpCast updates that flight or marks it cancelled. Every change can be undone, and you can remove any flight it added.
  • Remembered on your phone only: which flights came from your email, and which booking emails have already been checked (by an ID, not their contents), so nothing is read twice. This stays on your iPhone and is deleted when you disconnect or delete the app.
  • Read-only. BumpCast asks only for permission to read email. It never sends, deletes, moves or changes your email or settings.
  • Your sign-in stays on your phone. The access Google or Microsoft grants is kept in your iPhone's secure Keychain. Your email address is shown in Settings so you know which account is connected, and is not sent to our servers.
  • Not used for anything else. Email data is never used for advertising, never used to build a profile of you, never sold, never read by people, and never used to train AI models.
  • Disconnect any time in the app under Settings → Email. That removes BumpCast's access and deletes the sign-in from your phone. Flights already added stay until you delete them. You can also remove access from your Google Account or Microsoft account.

BumpCast's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Service providers

  • Supabase hosts our database and anonymous sign-in.
  • Fly.io runs the forecast engine.
  • A flight schedule data provider receives the flight numbers, airports and dates we look up, with no information about you, so we can find your flight and its status.
  • Superwall runs our onboarding and subscription screens. With your anonymous ID it receives basic device details (model, iOS version, language, region, time zone and an app-specific device identifier), which screens you see and what you buy, your onboarding answers, and a summary of your flights (how many you've saved, and your next flight's route, hours to departure and forecast grade). We use this to choose which screen or offer to show and to measure how well they work.
  • Apple processes purchases and delivers push notifications.
  • Google or Microsoft, only if you connect your email. Your iPhone talks to them directly to sign you in and read booking emails. Their own privacy policies apply to your account.

They process data only to provide their service to us. BumpCast doesn't ask for permission to track you, doesn't collect your advertising identifier, and doesn't share your data with data brokers or ad networks.

Location

BumpCast doesn't access your device's location. Forecasts use only the airports of your flights.

This website

This site uses no cookies, analytics or trackers, and loads no third-party scripts or fonts. Our host may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and pages requested, for a short time for security.

Keeping and deleting your data

Deleting a flight in the app deletes it and its forecasts from our servers. To delete everything linked to your anonymous ID, email us and we'll delete it within 30 days. Deleting the app removes data stored on your phone, including any email sign-in.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Our database restricts each anonymous ID to its own flights. Email sign-ins never leave your phone's Keychain.

Children

BumpCast isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app.
